PAUL MAGU-Lecugy - owner / executive chef

While working for world-class chef Alain Ducasse at La Bastide de Moustiers, 2-star Michelin Gerrard Besson in Paris and Le Bristol Hotel, Paul dreamed of sharing all that he learned with diners in his own bistro someday.

As a chef at the Ritz Carlton and St. Regis hotels in San Francisco, Paul was still dreaming, this time about offering 5-star treatment (without 5-star prices) in his own bistro someday.

Moving to the ‘burbs in 2009, he longed for a neighborhood French bistro serving impeccable French food with friendly neighborhood service —a place for dates, birthdays or just because it’s Wednesday. In 2015 Paul left the corporate world and with his wife, Laura, opened REVE in January 2016. The dream became a reality and is in the kitchen every night.

Growing up in Concord, the closest Laura got to a Paris bistro was sampling escargot for the first time at La Cocotte in Clayton. A life long foodie, she developed an appreciation for great food while living in San Francisco where she fell in love with the vast number of neighborhood restaurants just a short walk away. Oh, she also fell in love with Paul.

Working in the “front of the house” of restaurants from the age of 15, Laura learned the art of service from over 20 years of working at the Ritz Carlton in San Francisco. At Rêve, Laura manages all marketing & PR, wine list (it helps to have a good friend who is a master sommelier!) and many things considered “everything else”

Elaine Bartell - manager

Elaine brings 20+ years of service excellence to the RÊVE team, holding the honor of being part of the opening team of the Ritz Carlton Hotel in San Francisco in 1991.

Sophie Letort - Lead server / manager

Originally from Normandy, Sophie has been a part of the RÊVE team since we opened. She brings that French touch to the front of the house that makes you feel like you’re in France!
